What is going on in Writer's Workshop?
We have been working on "show vs. tell" in the class. Today we watched some videos, posted on google writing classroom, practiced the skill, and then played a game! It was harder than expected! Next week the students will begin to incorporate that skill into their writing. How can you assist? Maybe play a fun dinnertime game. Describe a feeling (sad, happy, proud, determined) and see if everyone can guess the feeling. For example: I slowly walked onto the stage. My hands were trembling and sweat began to drip down my back. My heartbeat quickened and I licked my dry lips. How am I feeling? Yes, scared, anxious, or nervous! |
We are beginning our next topic: informational research. Our topic of study: Westward Expansion. Today we worked on organizing our ideas.
Next we will work on flash drafts and then research! Have your student watch the video on westward expansion that I posted in my google classroom. |
